44th Sopot Festival became a part of the eternity as one of the most tempestuous contests. Since among more and less known artists there performed a young, very promising Frenchman, whom these sapienter members of the audience assosiated with a musical. Emmanuel Moire took a part in this competition as the second Frenchman (by Therry Amiel). He sang a cover of Lou Cowel’s song “Good day” with the title “Ca ma fait du bien”.

The artist was marvellous – he was the only one who showed this genuine taste and the highest level of the musicial craftsmanship. Accompanying himself on a fortepiano, Emmanuel introduced many listeners into a magicial world of French songs. He finished his permorfance with “Dziękuję” (“Thank you”) – told with a weak Polish accent. Unfortunately the audience – both this in the Opera Leśna and in front of the TVs chose selfishly the indigenous exponent – the band Feel with Piotr Kupicha as a vocalist. The French artist took the 2nd place with 12% of votes (Feel received both awards – The Amber Nightingale and The Public’s Nightingale with the number of votes corresponding to 52,25 % of all decidions. The verdict – considered by many as a wrongful – did not daunt the young artist, who is going to visit Poland soon. Let’s hope that he will “make us such a pleausre” once again.
